- Image Compression/Transmission - High resolution images can easily represent 1 Meg of data and transmission rates for narrowband circuits range from 4.8kps to 16kps. A standard uncompressed high resolution image could require 27 minutes to transmit. Image compression techniques can reduce these transmission times to manageable levels. PhotoTelesis products include a suite of Image Codec's depending upon the user's requirements. Our wavelet compressor offers a compression ratio of 50:1, while maintaining reasonable image quality. This reduces the above transmit time to less then 20 seconds, assuming a 16kps transmission rate.
- Government Imagery Standards - PhotoTelesis products comply with the NITF (National Imagery Transmission Format) standard, an advanced United States and NATO interoperable image format and a standard for image communications for US and Allied Forces. PhotoTelesis was the one of the first companies NITF certified.
