The
Lightweight Video Reconnaissance System (LVRS) Base Station key
components include a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) laptop
computer and inkjet printer, PCMCIA Communications Cards,
communications cables for selected radios, and power invertors
for operation from 12 and 24 volt DC sources. This enables the
operator to send as well as receive, process and transmit
imagery through existing military radios. Its compact size is
ideally suited to fit the space available in the TOC, whether it
is a HMMWV, an M577, or other shelter. Daytime and nighttime
video reconnaissance received from ground scouts, long range
surveillance units, and special operations forces facilitate
data collection for targeting and increased situation awareness.
