PhotoTelesis: Fast Tactical Imagery

The Fast Tactical Imagery II (FTI II)

The Fast Tactical Imagery II (FTI II) uses existing communications systems and sensors to receive and transmit images to/from aircraft and the ground. Because the existing systems are used, no OFP change is necessary. An internal Scan Converter Module automatically detects and down scans 875-line and 675-line video to standard 525 line for image capture. A removable Compact Flash card provides the capability to upload and download target images before and after the mission. Small text messages may also be attached and transmitted with the image or as stand-alone text files and then displayed on the cockpit display.

PRISM IDM

The PRISM equipped IDM combines the enhanced functionality of a low cost, small size, lightweight, multi-channel, intelligent, digital modem with the video imagery transfer capability of the Photo Telesis Military Micro RIT. This new system provides the means to integrate imagery transfer capability into an existing IDM, IDM-302/501, VME IDM or Laptop computer. The image handling capability can compress and crop the selected pictures to offer the user an enhanced Situation Awareness functionality.

Today, there are a variety of high-bandwidth sources (satellites, UAVs, J-STARS) for determining the location of threats on the battlefield, and though it is useful in assisting the commander in making critical tactical decisions, there has never been an ability to get that information (in a timely manner) to the Warfighter who will actually put steel on target.

With PRISM-IDM, you can! Taking advantage of the existing narrow-band Combat Tactical Radios found onboard all military aircraft, the PRISM-IDM allows the pilot to rapidly receive timely and accurate imagery of newly identified time critical targets. Additionally, as the target is attacked, the pilot can capture and send images of the action, so that Battle Damage Assessment is well documented, and available for tactical and strategic evaluation.
