PhotoTelesis: Fast Tactical Imagery

Military MicroRIT™(MMR)

The PhotoTelesis® Military MicroRIT™ (MMR) is a third generation handheld, image acquisition and transmission device. It is a key component of the Lightweight Video Reconnaissance System (LVRS). The small, lightweight MMR fully supports image digitization, display, processing, storage, management, compression, annotation, transmission and reception. The MMR supports the widely used PTAC™ protocol as well as the MIL-STD188-184 (ViaSat) SATCOM protocol. Images can be compressed with either JPEG or PhotoTelesis' wavelet compression algorithm to reduce storage requirements and on-the-air key time. The MMR supports the Sensor Link Protocol which provides a seamless interface to the PLGR GPS and the MELIOS Laser Rangefinder. The MMR also has a burst capture mode that allows the unit to capture 4 images per second, an annotation mode for attaching text, North arrow pointer, and a triangle target identifier. These functions allow an observer to capture a series of images, to select and annotate the image, and to send those that best describe the target.
